A downloadable OST

(I did it wrong... I didn't realise we were supposed to follow the picture and theme provided and thought it was our own thing, brain dead moment lol)

My game idea is called Carrier Pigeon, it is a game set in world war 1 in which you are a pigeon tasked with delivering messages to the correct place within a time limit. The less time you take, the more points you get to spend on upgrading your bird or giving it cosmetics. you lose points by damaging the letter, delivering it too late, or arriving injured (it is set in WW1). bonus points for pooing on a soldier.

The storyline is that you spend time training in France to be deployed in the army, then once trained you deliver gradually more and more difficult messages, from fairly easy messages between barracks to full on warfare. The final message is set in 1918 on October the 3rd, which re-enact the events of 'Cher Ami' (a real homing pigeon). and if you complete it you will obtain the Croix de Guerre Medal.

The game would be a combination of open world with racing, kind of like the gliding challenges in Genshin Impact crossed with the Wii Sports Resort open flying in which you can explore the map and find points of interest, but with a timer as well as avoiding guns, explosions and gas. There is potential for expansion with different birds being capable of different things - for speed mail you might want a peregrine falcon, and for heavy parcels a pelican or an eagle.

There is music for:

-General Message: 'delivery flight'

-Warfare Message: 'Final flight'

-'Good view' when you fly up really high.

For the delivery flight piece, I tried to convey my inner pigeon - how they fly. when I observed some of my local pigeons they kind of do a nice swoop and oscillate up and down. I tried to convey that with a sort of soaring melody over the chaos of a 5/8 ostinato. I also wanted to convey some sort of mild urgency, this is still in the context of WW1 but less urgent than the next piece.

For the Final flight, I definitely wanted to convey the chaos of war, the sadness, the seemingly pointlessness of it from your point of view - a mere pigeon. The intensity is ramped right up!

The 'good view' piece takes a step back from the chaos, and is like some perspective on how small people really are. It's quite slow, like the pigeon's view of the world in general (you probably know, but pigeon's perception of time is much slower than ours). I took out the snare and percussion for this, since the piece is supposed to be about taking a step back from the war.

Enjoy!
